The cabin in the woods

If you like movies that tease your brain, scary movies, thrillers or horror comedies then I challenge you to find a movie that is better than The cabin in the woods. I should also note that The cabin in the woods is the best WTF? movie since Inception.

I mean it. From the opening credits to pretty much the end credits, those three letters will cross your mind very often.

The movie tells a story of 5 college studenst who travel to a remote cabin in the woods to party and naturally horrible things start to happen.

The gang consists familiar stereotypes. The pretty girl, the pretty guy, wise guy, virgin and pothead. The only one missing is the black guy.

It's hard to write anything without spoilers. But I am gonna try.

Cabin in the woods is written by Joss Wheson and Drew Goddard, who also directs.

Since The cabin in the woods is a scary movie as well as a comedy, I should mention that it works on both levels. It is really really funny and at times it's also terribly scary.

The cabin in the woods is not your typical " let's go to the woods to party and then Jason comes and starts killing us" movie. It makes fun of movies like Friday the 13th, while using same elements. But it is also very different.

It's really surprising, where the movie goes with the story. As we saw from the trailers, someone controls these college kids and at times I thought that this was going to be something like The hunger games, boy was I wrong.

I really don't care about some of the characters but even I was pretty shocked when they were killed. Surprisingly my favourite character turned out to be the pothead.

Like I mentioned before, this is not your typical Hack'n slash movie, unlike those movies Cabin in the woods is sometimes ingenious, often surprising and very funny but always scary. And what a surprise they have managed to put in Sigourney Weaver! Do not be surprised when after watching this movie you crap your pants when a friendly hand is suddenly palced on you shoulder while walking on the street.
